Geyser Timers FAQ
Need assistance? Get in touch and one of our friendly staff will gladly assist.
What is a geyser timer and how does it work?
A geyser timer is a small device we fit to your distribution board that automatically switches your geyser on and off at set times. It stops the geyser heating 24/7 and cuts your bill dramatically.
How much money will a geyser timer save me?
Most families save R450–R950 per month on their electricity bill. Average payback is 3–8 months, then pure profit for the next 15+ years.
Can I still have hot water in the morning and evening?
Yes! We set it to heat before you wake up and again before you get home. Most homes only need the geyser on 3–5 hours a day.
What if we have loadshedding – will I run out of hot water?
We programme the timer to work around the current loadshedding schedule so your geyser heats when there IS power. We update it free when stages change.
Do you install smart geyser controllers that I can control from my phone?
Yes. We do basic mechanical timers (cheapest) right up to Wi-Fi smart timers (Sonoff, CBI Astute, Tuya) that you control from anywhere and that learn your usage.
Will my geyser burst or get damaged if it switches off?
No. Modern geysers are designed for it. In fact, running 24/7 shortens the element and thermostat life. Timed correctly, your geyser lasts longer.
How long does installation take and will I lose power?
30–60 minutes max. We work on the DB board and power off for less than 2 minutes while we connect.
Can you link the timer to my solar system or smart home?
Yes. We make sure the geyser only runs when you have free solar power or when the battery is full.
