What’s the difference between a solar geyser and a solar PV (electricity) system?
A solar geyser heats water only. Solar PV (panels on the roof) makes electricity to run your whole house, charge batteries, and power your geyser. We do both.
Will solar completely eliminate my electricity bill?
With a good hybrid system + battery, many of our clients pay R0 to the municipality from October to April and under R500 in winter. Complete R0 all year is possible but depends on your usage and system size.
How long do the batteries last, and what happens when loadshedding is over for the night?
Modern lithium batteries (5–15 kWh) last 10–15 years and easily carry an average home through 4–12 hours of loadshedding. When the grid comes back, the system automatically switches back and recharges the batteries.
Can I add solar later if I first just want an inverter and battery for loadshedding?
Yes. We install “solar-ready” inverters so you can add panels in future without changing the whole system. Many clients start with backup only and go solar 6–12 months later.
Do solar panels still work during loadshedding?
Only if you have a battery or a hybrid inverter. Without a battery, panels shut down for safety when the grid is off. We always recommend at least a small battery.
How long does it take to install a full solar + battery system?
Most home systems (5–10 kW + battery) are done in 1–3 days. We do it while you’re at work and you come home to power that never goes off.
Do you handle the municipality approval and SSEG registration?
Yes. We submit everything, install the bi-directional meter if needed, and get your system legally signed off so you stay compliant.
